William Sawyer

I was born and raised in Utah, and spent my life up until the age of 17 as a member of the LDS church. I fell apart after a serious of events including questioning religion as a whole and disagreeing with the church leadership on a number of political issues.

I grew up a passionate reader and writer, enjoying the consumption of information (fiction and non-fiction) and have used what I know to create works to touch the hearts of those who may be in similar situations as myself.

On July 28 of 2022, my younger sister Emma took her own life. Emma was a member of the transgender community, and I used this event to radicalize myself for the betterment of society. I began taking better care of my own mental health, keeping up with my friends who I know have struggled with similar issues in the past, and began pursuing a formal education in social work.

I'm now creating this website as a means to collect and reflect on the data we have on mental health in the transgender community in hopes of spreading awareness for the importance of professional diagnostics and treatments, and what we can do as a community to help those in need.
